Below are links to resources that might be useful in the context of an Illinois divorce, child custody or family law dispute.
Illinois Marriage and Dissolution of Marriage Act (the “IMDA”)
If you are getting divorced, this is the law which controls most of your case.
Illinois Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act (the “UCCJEA”)
The UCCJEA is a uniform law that was adopted in 48 states to resolve conflicts between states as to which state has jurisdiction of a child custody case. For instance, if one parent takes a child to a foreign (non-Illinois state) and files a child custody suit there, but the other parent files in Illinois, this is the law that will govern which state has jurisdiction (with some exceptions).
Grandparents Rights Organization
This group advocates for continuing relationships between grandparents and grandchildren.
